Tonight Alexander raced Mommy to the bathroom and when they got there Mommy asked, "Alexander how'd you get here so fast." He looked at her with an exasperated look and said, "Because I left first!" Wednesday, August 18, 2010

Mommy: Do you want daddy to carry you to bed?
Alexander: No.
Mommy: I want daddy to carry me to bed.
Alexander: No way.  You're too heavy.

Reading a book of 100 words tonight, I pointed to the block of cheese and asked Alexander what it was.  He assuredly told me that it was "Swice" cheese...

This morning when Mary got in trouble with mama, she started screaming "Daddy" over and over.  Won't be long that she wants me when she's in trouble.

Recent Trip to L.A.

We recently took a family trip out to L.A. to visit Elizabeth's aunt and uncle, Anne and Bill Cullen.  We also got to see their daughters and families.  We visited the Long Beach Aquarium. Got a nice tour of their country club overlooking L.A. It was a relaxing and wonderful visit. As always I captured a few hundred pictures and have posted them for the viewing pleasure of all. Some are good, some are great, and some are silly.

Congratulations, Doctor Jellen!

My sister graduated this weekend from Penn State and received her Ph.D. She is wonderfully intelligent and a beautiful person all together.

We made the trip up to Mingoville, PA to attend and had a blast. Her home and family are very comforting and lend themselves so well to pictures. While there we got to go out on Bald Eagle lake on the family cruiser, fish and party.

Congrats to her. We are all so proud.

Family Beach Trip 2010

I posted my photos from the family beach trip for 2010.  If you find one of Mary standing on a dock and it's not a very good photo, it was included because it was the last photo I took before she went flailing backwards into the water.  I quickly jumped in after her.  She is fine.  She now tells the story as "I went swimming".  The week was great and we all had a blast.  I know there are still 53 photos, but come on, I got it down from around 900.

More of Alexander's Artwork

Alexander brought home some more art from school today that is worth sharing.  One is a self portrait.  When asked what it was, he said "a weird me."  The second (below) is what he first said was a dragon fly (this time free hand and more colorful).  He later changed his mind and now calls it a fire truck.  He says that the picture is colorful just like fire trucks.

Alexander's First Photo Shoot

I gave Alexander my old camera this afternoon and let him go at it.  He took pictures for probably 30 minutes before the battery died.  He managed to fill up the entire memory card. I weeded through them and cut the set down to 20 photos that I thought were worth viewing (especially since a 3 year old took them).  He's really a fan of close ups and loves taking pictures of random things around the house. His favorite is the toilet paper roll. He cracks up every time he sees it.  The one of the floor with snot in the middle of it... yeah that was right after he sneezed.  He likes to capture life as it happens, you know? Anyway check it out.

Alexander is really starting to improve on his coloring and tracing.  Check out this dragon fly he did on Friday in school.
